All To the Glory of God

All To the Glory of God

Matthew 6:1-4

6 “Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 Therefore, when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.

Whatever you do. Do it to please God.

We live in a world of social media. Which means we can put our entire lives on the internet for everyone to see. That also means, we get a dopamine high when we get lots of likes and people tell us how good we look or how great we have done.

The sad part is that we feel the need to tell the world every single time we believe we have done something good so we can  get that pat on the back.

Don’t Be a Hypocrite

Whether we use the internet or just stand before people and tell them what great things we have done or facilitated we are most certainly wrong and according to this scripture behaving like a hypocrite.

When you tell people about the good you have done and get that applause, that pat on the back, no matter what humble comments you choose to follow that with you have received your reward for that deed.

There’s A Difference

I know there are times when others bring up the things we have done or rather the things God has used us to do, but that’s not what this is talking about. Although you should be humble in your response and in the posture of your heart when that happens.

Do good things because you love people. Do good things because it’s right and pleasing to God. Don’t post videos and statuses and start conversations about all the good “you have done”. Like the word says your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly.

1 Corinthians 10:31, Matthew 5:16, Colossians 3:17

**Lord Thank You for the times You have used me to do good things for others. While it is quite hard, please help me to remember when I do good things it’s not about me, but it’s all about You! Any resource I have whether it be time, things or money is all because of You God and therefore no credit belongs to me in any way. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
