To Truly Believe
Matthew 16:24
24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
It’s A Choice
Following Jesus is a choice. We choose to lay aside all of the plans we made, all of the things we want and exchange them for what He wants for us. Instead of going through life doing whatever feels good to us we follow what His word says about how we should live.
The thing is you can’t do both. God’s word says in Matthew 6:24 that you cannot serve two master’s because you will love one and hate the other.
Don’t Be Blind
While we don’t want to believe that choosing to do things our own way instead of God’s way is “hating” Him. It is.
We are blinded by the reality of the consequences of our choices which is ultimately death, being cast into Hell for eternity.
To Truly Believe
To truly believe in God is to live by what His word says. We overcomplicate what it means to live for Him because we panic the moment, we think we are giving up all the things we want. The truth is the life God has for you is better than anything you could ever plan for yourself.
Are you always going to want to do the things He leads you to do? No, of course, not but then again are all of your days filled with things that you enjoy and want to do? If you were honest the answer would be no.
Never Satisfied
The devil would want you to believe that what you are giving up is priceless. It’s not. The things you trade for a life with God are nothing more than empty pieces to a puzzle that can never be finished unless God is in it. You will always feel like something is missing, never satisfied.
Are you willing to sacrifice the things you want for the things you need?

**Lord thank You for wanting what is best for me and always providing it. I ask that You show me all the things I am holding on to that are keeping me from a true, life changing relationship with You and give me the courage to let those things go no matter what everyone else around me is doing or saying. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
