Still waters
Psalm 23 New King James Version
23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil;
For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever.
Can’t Focus
While spending time with the Lord this morning my mind kept wandering off to our current circumstances that are proving most difficult and heartbreaking to say the least. I couldn’t focus on my normal reading plan. I wrote some prayers down that just repeated how much I can’t understand what is happening and why He hasn’t answered my prayers the way I would like for Him too. I just don’t understand.
Difficult Circumstances
Then He gave me this scripture and reminded me that though things are difficult and heartbreaking He is still there. He is still taking care of us. Through His word He also reminded me that He would give me peace in my heart and peace in my mind to do the things I would have to do. He would comfort us during this time.
It’s so easy to get wrapped up in what or how much we don’t understand that we lose focus on what He has always done for us.
**Lord, help me to remember today and every day that no matter how difficult circumstances may or be how bad it hurts that You are always there and will never leave us. Thank you for the peace in my heart and my mind that You give me when I need it. I trust You Lord even if I don’t understand. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
