What are you looking at?
Matthew 21:6-8
6 So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on them. 8 And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches from the trees and spread them on the road.
Serve
Jesus did not come to be served but to serve. He did not wear flashy expensive clothes. He didn’t drive the newest car. He wasn’t well thought of by everyone who was deemed “large and in charge”. He was just a regular guy from a not so nice town. From what I understand, contrary to pictures we see now, Jesus wasn’t even a good-looking man.
And yet those things are what we are most impressed by. If someone drives the best car and dresses well, lives in a nice house we look at them as though they are “somebody”
Dirty Clothes
Jesus’s rode into town on a borrowed donkey with dirty clothes for a saddle. He didn’t have a red carpet; he had the town’s laundry and tree branches make a path for Him. He didn’t have a seat on any board or council.
It was just Him and the work His father sent Him to do. He picked 12 guys who most people wouldn’t even have given a second look and decided they were the ones He wanted to help do His work. Those that followed Him, that truly believe He was the son of God, were everyday people out there trying to make it.
Pharisee
The Pharisees were the ones in nice clothes. They were thought well of and had control over the goings on in the town. Those Pharisees were also the ones who started the path to the crucifixion of Jesus.
Be mindful of who you choose to follow and put your trust in. Just because they seem to have it all, seem like the best, doesn’t mean they are.
Matthew 20:28, 1 Samuel 16:7, Matthew 21:1-11
**Lord, help me to be mindful of who I look up to. God, I pray for the gift of discernment so I will not be fooled by the enemy. I also pray for the Godly wisdom to use that discernment properly. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
