What do you want?
Genesis 18:10-12 New King James Version
10 And He said, “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.” (Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind him.) 11 Now Abraham and Sarah were old, well advanced in age; and Sarah had passed the age of childbearing. 12 Therefore Sarah laughed within herself, saying, “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”
Sarah & Abraham
Sarah & Abraham never had a child together. While they sought God for one they became impatient and Sarah made her husband have a child with her servant. However, he was not the child of promise.
Sarah was around 90 and Abraham was over a hundred. I guess that is why she laughed when God said they would have a son. Could you imagine? Having a child at that age? It would seem almost impossible not only to have a child, but to be able to care for them at that age.
Sarah & Abraham desperately wanted a child of their own. They prayed for what seemed like forever. They prayed so long it seemed as if the timing had passed and they missed their window to have a baby.
What About You?
What have you been praying for? Have you been praying and asking God for something for so long that it seems like the timing has passed and there is no way it’s possible for it to happen?
Never forget that God does not operate in the same timing that we do. He is not limited by anything. If He can create our entire world and everything in it right down to the tiny little ants that crawl around why would anything be impossible for Him. He is not bound by the opinions of doctors or bankers.
Hold on to hope. God knows the perfect time for everything and sees all the things we can’t see.
