He Chose You!

Matthew 1:20-21 New King James Version

20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

Direction

If you read thorough chapters 1 & 2 of Matthew, you will see that repeatedly an angel of the Lord came to Joseph and told him what to do. That got me thinking about how often I wish the Lord would come to me or even send an angel and tell me exactly what to do. 

Then I realized God, through His Holy Spirit, tells me what to do all of the time. I just find it harder to listen because without seeing Him I allow myself to doubt. We all do. 

The Truth

I’ll be honest I know God has given me gifts and called me to do things. Every so often someone else comes along doing the same things I am, and it seems like everyone loves them and responds to them, but me not so much. 

If God has ever revealed to you what He wants you to do I know you have been in the same boat. 

What Do We Do?

So, what do we do? Usually, we listen to the lies of the enemy. We allow him to go down the same list every single time. We find ourselves a little bit jealous because it seems so many people like them and not you. Then we move on to self-pity. We just aren’t doing good enough we think, and that is usually followed by doubt. Did I even hear God tell me to do something or did I make it all up in my mind. 

And this repeats over and over again.. And again… and again….

Some will give up. Believing the lies and giving into the doubt. They will never walk in what God has for them allowing the enemy to win.  But others won’t! A few will stand firm even on the days of doubt and seek God for guidance. 

The Lies Joseph Heard

Can you imagine what the devil was saying to Joseph? His fiancé turned up pregnant, and he knew for a fact the baby wasn’t his. I imagine the thoughts were something along the lines of “did I really see that angel or was I just dreaming and making it up because I love her and want to be with her?”. 

What if Joseph would have given in and listened to the lies of the enemy? What if he had listened to all of the whispers around town? 

He Chose You!

God chose you! He has created you with a specific purpose and there is no one else like you! Don’t be distracted when it seems like others are trying to do exactly what you are doing. They aren’t you. God has anointed and chosen you for such a time as this!!! 

**Lord thank You for reminding me that no matter what anyone else is doing You have created me for such a time as this! Help keep me focused and determined to do what You have called me to do! In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **
