It’s All Spiritual

It’s All Spiritual

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 New King James Version

3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

We Are Only Human

I want us to really look at these scriptures piece by piece for a few minutes. Verse 3 says “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. We are human beings. Human beings with thoughts, feelings, emotions, habits and schedules. However, no matter who you are or what type of lifestyle you choose to live, the wars you face, in your health, in your mind, in your relationships are not “flesh”, but spiritual.

I know a lot of people seem to pull back when you start to talk that way but the truth is we are always at war. The enemy is after our souls and will try to break us down in any way possible to get it. He will try whatever he believes will work according to what he sees us do, hears us say and what we have done in the past.

Stay Focused

It probably sounds pretty overwhelming and like something we just don’t want to deal with but that is when verse 4 comes in. “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,”. How do we deal with the devil’s constant attack on every aspect of our lives? We start by remembering that “we” are not doing this in our own knowledge or strength. Seeking God and putting Him first is where it all starts. And that starts with communication. God cannot lead you and talk to you if you are not talking to Him. Prayer is how we fight our battles. Not once does God ever leave us alone to take on anything ourselves. We just have to remember to stay focused on Him and what His word says to do during difficult times.

His Word Says

That brings us to verse 5. “ Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”  The battle always starts in our mind. Little negative thoughts here and there. Maybe you think someone is talking about you or treating you differently. Or there is a little voice inside telling you bad things about yourself, maybe it’s even saying no one loves you, you don’t need to be here anymore.

When those thoughts come, ask yourself something. Do these thoughts line up with what God’s word says about me?

That is what verse 5 is about. Is what I am thinking and feeling what His word says? If not then you have to take action. You have to start saying what God’s word does say about you or about the situation. The only way to have that kind of ammunition is to read and study God’s word. It may not seem like you remember what you read but when you take the time to study His word, to show up to church and bible study classes it goes down inside and will come out right when you need it.

You Have Power & Authority

You have been given power and authority over the enemy (Luke 10:19). The only control he has over you, and over your mind is what you give him. Every inch you give the devil he will take a mile, which means you will have to fight that much harder to get where you want to be. But God will never leave you alone to figure it out for yourself. He will always be there to help and strengthen you.

**Lord, thank You for never leaving me. Thank You for Your word that gives me what I need to fight the enemy. Help me to remember that he has no power over me, only that which I give him. In Jesus name I pray, Amen. **

I want to study and learn more! I want to have scripture to throw at the enemy when he comes around. I don’t ever want to be caught off guard without a scripture ready that Satan cannot argue with!!
